Development of eye-head gaze control on the iCub robot

چکیده
Our gaze architecture enables very fast learning of gaze control on the iCub using both learning methods. Each has advantages, and we are continuing to investigate how both play a part in infant development. Eye tracking for human robot interaction
Humans use eye gaze in their daily interaction with other humans. Humanoid robots, on the other hand, have not yet taken full advantage of this form of implicit communication. We designed a passive monocular gaze tracking system implemented on the iCub humanoid robot [17]. The validation of the system proved that it is a viable low-cost, calibration-free gaze tracking solution for humanoid plat...
متن کاملA Cartesian 6-DoF Gaze Controller for Humanoid Robots
In robotic systems with moving cameras control of gaze allows for image stabilization, tracking and attention switching. Proper integration of these capabilities lets the robot exploit the kinematic redundancy of the oculomotor system to improve tracking performance and extend the field of view, while at the same time stabilize vision to reduce image blur induced by the robot’s own movements. G...
متن کاملA Neural Model of Coordinated Head and Eye Movement Control
Gaze shifts require the coordinated movement of both the eyes and the head in both animals and humanoid robots. To achieve this the brain and the robot control system needs to be able to perform complex non-linear sensory-motor transformations between many degrees of freedom and resolve the redundancy in such a system. In this article we propose a hierarchical neural network model for performin...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study on Blinking and Eye Movement Detection via EEG Signals for Human-Robot Interaction Purposes Based on a Spherical 2-DOF Parallel Robot
Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...
متن کاملRobot Faces that Follow Gaze Facilitate Attentional Engagement and Increase Their Likeability
Gaze behavior of humanoid robots is an efficient mechanism for cueing our spatial orienting, but less is known about the cognitive-affective consequences of robots responding to human directional cues. Here, we examined how the extent to which a humanoid robot (iCub) avatar directed its gaze to the same objects as our participants affected engagement with the robot, subsequent gaze-cueing, and ...
